A Reflection on Our School Community: Growing Together in Christ
In a recent student survey of a Year 9 English class, words like friendly, amazing,
and respectful echoed the atmosphere we strive to cultivate each day. These
expressions of joy and belonging reflect not only the growing success of our school
culture but also the heart of our mission: to live in faithful service of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Guided by His teachings, we are called to build a community shaped by joy,
respect, integrity, and love.
Our students also described our school as exotic and multicultural—a vibrant
celebration of the unique gifts and backgrounds each person brings and recently
experienced in our Multi-cultural Day. This diversity is not only embraced but seen as
a strength, enriching our learning environment and reminding us of the beauty of
God’s creation in all its variety.
Yet, we know that school life can sometimes bring stress, pressure, and challenges.
As a Christ-centred community, we are reminded in Galatians 6:2 to "carry each
other’s burdens," and to walk alongside one another with compassion and
understanding. Acknowledging the pressures our students face is the first step in
addressing them together.
My deep hope is that every student will flourish—academically, socially, emotionally,
and spiritually. As a staff we long for each child to grow in confidence, in character,
and in their relationship with Christ. We envision a school where kindness is
instinctive, where differences are respected, and where each student is encouraged
to explore their God-given potential.
This hope aligns with the teachings of Christ, who called us to love one another, to
welcome the stranger, and to seek peace and understanding. Jesus modelled a life
of service, humility, and deep respect for all people—values we seek to embed in
every aspect of our school culture. As previously communicated, we need to flourish
together.
To ensure our school continues to grow as a place where every individual is known,
valued, and loved, we invite our whole community to partner in this mission. Here are
some simple yet impactful strategies we can all embrace:
For Students:
- Be kind and inclusive – Reach out to classmates who may feel left out or
lonely. A small act of kindness reflects the love of Christ. - Speak with respect – In words and actions, let respect be your guide,
building others up according to their needs. - Take care of your well-being – Talk to a trusted adult when you feel
overwhelmed. Seeking support is a sign of strength.
For Parents:
- Model faith and grace at home – Speak positively about learning, teachers,
and peers, reinforcing Christian values in everyday conversations. - Stay engaged – Attend school events, stay informed, and communicate
openly with teachers. A strong partnership supports student success. - Encourage balance – Support healthy routines that prioritize rest, play, family
time, and faith, alongside academic goals.
For Staff:
- Lead with love – Let every interaction with students be grounded in care,
patience, and the desire to see each child thrive. - Foster inclusive classrooms – Celebrate the cultural, spiritual, and personal
identities of each learner, affirming the image of God in all. - Prioritise well-being – Encourage practices that reduce stress and create
calm, purposeful learning environments.
As we move ahead together, let us recommit to building a school that radiates the
love of Christ—a place where joy, respect, and integrity are not only taught but lived.
Our students are watching, learning from the way we treat one another, solve
problems, and show grace in our everyday interactions.
May we continue to grow not only in knowledge but in faith, compassion, and unity.
Thank you for being part of this sacred journey. Together, guided by Christ’s
example, we can ensure that our school continues to be a place where everyone can
flourish.
Of late we are asking the question who are you? What are you doing here?
I am Ian Hamilton, teacher and a child of God. I am here because of God’s calling to
use my gifts to serve him in his school and reach the potential he breathed into me.
What is your answer?

Community Lunch
On the 22nd May, I ran a community lunch that was held in front of Room C. This event was part of my Year 11 Community Studies project, and my goal was to bring people together so they can learn a bit about each other’s culture, religious traditions and religious backgrounds.
The food that was served included Otai (a Samoan drink that is made of watermelon, pineapple, ice and coconut), and a Middle Eastern dish called Samosas. Sharing cultural dishes allowed students to enjoy themselves and learn about the foods other cultures eat.
The joy on students' faces reminded me that there is happiness in community and being together. Organising this event taught me responsibility and to make sure to keep up to date with contacting people who are helping to organise food. Celebrating diversity through food is important because this way nobody feels left out, and everyone in the community feels important. My classmates helped and supported me by making and bringing some food. They also helped me set up and helped me to give out food. I was grateful for the support from my classmates.

Parents Observe Students' Learning Experience
It was a genuine pleasure to welcome mums, dads and siblings of students in Year 8 Bible class on Monday evening.
There were no rehearsals—just an authentic and meaningful opportunity for students to share their learning experiences and showcase what’s been happening in our Bible class. Parents offered thoughtful feedback and expressed enthusiasm about similar events for other classes in the future.
A heartfelt thank you to Darlene for coordinating the catering, and to Mal and Sharifa for kindly staying back to help ensure we had adequate supervision throughout the evening.

Celebrating Diversity!
Friday 23 May was a blast as we celebrated the amazing cultural union that makes our school so special! The day was packed with laughter, music, dancing, and delicious goodies from around the world. It was a joyful reminder that our differences are what make us awesome—and that we’re at our best when we come together to share, celebrate, and have fun!

Chaplain's Corner

Hey Prescott People,
It’s Pr Mal here with another article! I hope you’re having an awesome last period of the year! I feel like everyone is counting down the days until school's finished. It’s definitely a time where everyone is getting sick with the change of weather but I’m here to share something to keep warm in this season.
I’ve been thinking about how we continually to grow in our walk with Christ. I think back to when my walk with God was the strongest and that was when I had connection with the boys. I came up with this thought to summarise. Those who ‘bro’ together, grow together. When we spend together in God's Word and in community with each other, we grow in our relationship with God. The early church spent time together in fellowship and discussing God's Word. (Acts 2) Their church grew exponentially with people on fire for God.
That’s a thought to keep you warm this week! As always, we chaplains are available to chat, pray or discuss anything you need. May God be with you in your new week!

Year 10 Geography Fundraisers
Mr. Goffeau's Year 10 Geography class has been divided into four teams, each tasked with selecting a cause they’re passionate about and developing creative fundraising strategies. Their goal is to plan and launch their own initiatives, aiming to raise as much profit as possible for their chosen cause.
The enthusiasm of our students toward their fundraisers has been truly inspiring. Their passion is clearly reflected in the effort they've poured into designing eye-catching flyers that creatively communicate their cause. From bold visuals to persuasive messaging, each flyer showcases their commitment and initiative. Beyond just promotion, students have taken an active role in encouraging their peers to get involved—sharing their message with energy, purpose, and a strong sense of community. It’s been wonderful to see them take ownership of their projects and work together to make a real impact. Their drive and teamwork are making a difference.
