Leadership Insights

I’ve just come back from watching our students rehearse for today’s final Week of Worship
(WOW) Service, and I am still in awe of what I witnessed. A sea of students—representing
many cultures, ethnicities, and faith backgrounds—joined their voices in harmony, lifting up
a powerful rendition of the classic Jerusalem.
It felt like a glimpse of God’s Kingdom—so moving that I had to hold back tears. This is one
of the greatest blessings we share as a school community: moments when our diversity, unity,
and love for the Creator are beautifully displayed, amidst the current world affairs.
Throughout this week, there has been an incredible buzz around our campus. We thank God
for His constant love and protection as we celebrate the Christ-centred learning environment
that makes Prescott College so special. Integrity has been at the forefront of our
reflections—encouraging us all to do the right thing, even when no one is watching.
This week also marked R U OK? Day, reminding us of the importance of caring for one
another. Integrity is lived out not just in big moments but in small acts of kindness—like
stopping to ask a friend, “Are you okay?” and truly listening to their answer.
Week 8 has been another fantastic week here at the College. A strong focus on spiritual
matters, reminders to check in on one another, while living out the value of Integrity, and not
to mention of course, respect and joy!

Week of Worship 2025 - Be Still

“This was my first WOSE at Prescott College. I enjoyed the singing, and doing the actions for the ‘Famous Four'. When they did the Tim Tam activity and I won, hearing my name get called made me feel proud.”
Milan
"WOSE is one of my favourite times of the year. It is a blessing to sing praise songs as a school and hear a new message every day. The speaker has been talking on the protestant reformation, which has taught us many new things."
Alanna
"I feel that being a part of this year's week of worship program has really strengthened my spiritual walk with God, and has helped me implement the sermons into my life much more. I feel that WOW week is such a good opportunity for our Prescott community to come together and focus on God, while simultaneously having fun together. It also presents opportunities to strengthen other aspects of my life, such as my fear of public speaking and historical understanding (thanks to our speaker Suki). Overall, I think that everyone who was involved and experienced Week of Worship took something positive and useful out of it."

R U Ok Day

The school was glistening yellow as we observed RU Ok Day on Thursday.
A great day to remind us all that a conversation could change a life; it's an invitation to meaningfully connect with others who may be struggling, and the process involves asking the question, listening with an open mind, encouraging action, and checking in with the person later.

"I loved R U OKAY Day. It was very inspiring to learn what the organisation's purpose was and why they dedicated a day for it".

Students Leaders visit Government House

"Being able to go to Government House was a great experience for us. The displayed artwork, and photos along the walls were amazing to look at. It was also nice to be able to meet the Governor-General and her husband again (after having seen them at their visit to our school earlier this year) and talk about Prescott College and the future. Many student leaders attended from all over Adelaide and even from areas like Victor Harbor. Seeing all of them was a great reminder for us that we are not alone. That they are facing struggles, but also celebrating victories and small wins just like us. Once again, this was an experience like no other for us and we are very pleased that we got the opportunity to attend".

Year 12 Food Tech Practical
The Year 12 Food & Hospitality students successfully completed their final practical assessment, a "Celebration of Cake" task. Despite many having no prior experience in baking or cake decorating, their results were exceptional. Following preparatory decorating workshops, instructional videos, and independent research, the students performed admirably and were proud of their outstanding achievements. Congratulations to the Year 12 Food & Hospitality class on a job well done.

Students vs Teachers Basketball

A friendly game of basketball sparked a healthy rivalry between teachers and students earlier this week. With the score neck and neck throughout, the teachers pulled through with an incredible 4-point victory. Well done students, for keeping the teachers on their toes!

Chaplain's Corner

It has been a special and awesome week! Thank you to everyone who has worked hard to make Week of Worship so amazing.
Each morning in my personal devotions, I reflected on our WoW theme, “Be Still.”
This theme can be found in many places throughout the Bible. Some of these
were; when Jesus calmed the wind and the waves of Galilee, and when Moses stood at the Red
Sea and told the Israelites to not fear Pharaoh’s army that was coming after them. In Psalms
46:10, it says, “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be
exalted in the earth!” I found this so comforting in the crazy busyness of this week.
WoW has been awesome. I loved to sing praises each day, and be led by amazing praise teams. I
was blessed by witnessing the “Hey’s”, where people were acknowledged and thanked for being
awesome. I was excited to see the beautiful artwork that the Year 12 boys and Mr Hamilton put
together. I was so scared when the students nearly won the teacher vs student basketball game,
and so relieved when the staff pulled though! (Sorry students! But, I think that’s the closest it’s ever
been, so well done!) I was happy when I saw students step up to sing special items, ask if us
chaplains needed help, said yes to being involved, and served in all sorts of ways. I was intrigued,
and my heart was touched by the messages presented by Suki each day. The stories shared were
incredible. A mix of the Old and New Testament, with inspiring stories of the Reformation, God has
definitely spoken to me.
It’s been a full week! From noodle lunches to packed-in programs, Trivia lunch to ‘Are You Okay?
Day.’ It’s been wonderful, but packed! Starting my day with Psalm 46, and reflecting on His Word
helped ground me. Even though I definitely wasn’t physically still, my heart was able to be still,
because it was at peace and grounded in God’s promises of assurance and strength.
May the words of this week echo in our thoughts as this week comes to an end. A life with God is
the best life we could ever possibly choose to have. Let us be still in His love and grace, and share
this great hope with the world.

Join Homework Club – Tuesdays and Thursdays After School!

Homework Club is a great opportunity for students to stay on top of their studies in a
supportive and focused environment. Running every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30PM, in the Library. Homework club offers a quiet space with access to teachers and resources to help with assignments, revision, and time management. It’s also a great chance to build good study habits and reduce stress by getting homework done early in the week. All students are welcome—just let Mrs Nelson (Tuesday) or Mr Joseph (Thursday) know you are attending.

Canteen

The canteen is open at both recess and lunch. Most food items need to be ordered through the Flexischools app. To get started, simply download the app and create an account under Prescott College.
Orders can be placed anytime in advance, or up until 9:05am on the day. If you order for your child, please remind them what you’ve ordered so they know what to collect.
If your child is absent after you’ve already placed an order, please contact the office before 9am.
