Building Our Prescott Community Through Service
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." – 1 Peter 4:10
A vibrant and welcoming school community is built on care, respect, and a willingness to serve one another. At the heart of this foundation lies a truth: we each have unique talents and strengths, gifts from God that are meant not just for ourselves, but for the good of others. When we choose to use those gifts in service, we not only grow personally but also enrich the lives of those around us. Putting the common good first does require each of us to develop a balance between our individual needs and what is in the best interest of all. Developing a selfless approach contributes to an environment filled with kindness, cooperation, and connection.
At our school, we are guided by the pillars of joy, respect, and integrity. These values remind us that living in community is about more than just coexisting—it’s about uplifting others, contributing with kindness, and prioritising the common good. Service isn’t always grand or dramatic; sometimes, it’s found in the quiet, daily choices to be thoughtful and generous.
Here are five practical ways our students can strengthen our school community:
- Lend a Helping Hand
Take time to support classmates who may be having a tough day, whether it's academically, socially, or emotionally. A kind word or small act of help can go a long way. - Welcome New Students
Be the friendly face that eases someone’s first-day nerves. A warm welcome, an invitation to sit together, or help finding their way makes a lasting difference. - Get Involved in School Life
Active participation connects you with others and helps build school spirit. Get involved. - Be a Peacemaker
When conflict happens, choose to listen, be fair, and promote understanding. Being a peaceful presence builds trust. - Show Gratitude and Encourage Others
Take time to thank your teachers, recognise a classmate’s effort, or cheer on a friend. These small actions inspire a culture of appreciation.
As recipients of God’s grace, let us use our gifts to serve with love and purpose. Together, we can continue to shape our school underpinned by respect, integrity, and joy.

Athletics Carnival
Prescott College held its annual Athletics Carnival on Tuesday, 7th May at the Port Adelaide Athletics Track. The day began with rain, but just as events were about to commence, the weather cleared and the sun came out—perfect timing for a day of competition. Throughout the carnival, students demonstrated outstanding athleticism, with a remarkable 35 records broken across various events. Special congratulations go to Teija Berry-Smith, Yassin Najafi, David Porter, Alanna Robson, and Prabhnoor Kaur, who each broke three or more records. Well done to all students who contributed to an exciting and successful day.
Despite the early light showers, the Prescott spirit shone through and we had a great carnival. The students showed resilience and perserverence, and the competition was fill with energy, excitement, and plenty of unforgettable moments.

A final congratulations to Turner House, who claimed victory with 2,931 points over Foster House’s 2,082.

Allocated Seating on Intercampus School Bus (Kanga)
Supporting a Safe and Respectful Journey
To ensure a safe and efficient travel experience for all students, we have implemented allocated seating on the Intercampus Bus. This decision is based on several important factors, and we kindly ask for the support of all students in following this arrangement with respect and a positive attitude.
Why Allocated Seating?
Allocated seating allows us to:
- Enhance student safety by ensuring that all passengers are seated and
accounted for. - Support positive behaviour by minimizing movement and distractions during
transit. - Assist with supervision and help the driver focus on the road without
disruption. - Ensure consistency in seating arrangements, which is especially helpful for
relief drivers who may not be familiar with the regular students.
A Message to Our Students
We ask all students to: - Respect the allocated seating plan and remain in your assigned seat during
the trip. - Support your driver by following instructions and maintaining a calm and
courteous demeanour. - Show kindness and responsibility, contributing to a positive and inclusive
bus environment.
Our drivers play a vital role in your daily school experience. A respectful and cooperative attitude goes a long way in making the journey enjoyable and safe for all.
Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a high standard of care and safety.
Parent-Teacher Interviews
Thank you to all the parents and caregivers who took part in our recent Parent-Teacher Interviews. Your involvement means so much. These conversations highlight the important partnership between home and school, and we hope they provided valuable insights and encouragement as your child continues to grow and learn.
Happy Mothers Day

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate and honour all the incredible people who play the role of a mum in a child’s life — whether you're a mother, stepmum, grandmother, aunty, carer, or someone who simply shows up with love, care, and guidance each day.
Your kindness, strength, and unwavering support make a lasting impact on our students and our community. Thank you for all that you do — today and every day.
Wishing you a day filled with love, appreciation, and a little well-deserved rest!
To my mother, Sandeep. I am very proud and happy to have a mother like mine who knows exactly what I like. There are so many things that I am grateful for, your cooking, funny jokes and the mother and daughter bond that we both have. Thank you for being such a good mother and I love you a lot! ~Aish
I love my mum. She is like my idol, and she is always here for me in every way. She has taught me to be respectful and has raised me in her best way. I love my mum. ~Daiwik

Bubsie Vintage Car Visit

In 1925—exactly a century ago—Nevill Westwood set off on an ambitious journey around Australia in his beloved Citroën 5CV, fondly nicknamed "Bubsie." Accompanied by his colleague, Greg Davies, the pair ventured into the vast unknown.
This is the first car to do a trip right around Australia.
This was an era long before GPS, satellite phones, or reliable maps of Australia’s remote wilderness. They navigated using instinct, local knowledge, and the generosity of strangers they encountered along the way. Meanwhile, their small, toy-like car braved scorching deserts, treacherous mudflats, and dense bushland, proving both their resilience and its surprising durability.
Our students had the opportunity to see this magnificent replica of the Citroen (the original Bubsie is on display at the National Museum in Canberra). As you can tell, the teachers were just as excited to experience this remarkable piece of history.

Merit Ceremony
After the Annual SACE Merit Ceremony at Government House was previously cancelled due to extreme heat, it was then rescheduled to late last term. I had the privilege of attending to celebrate with one of our 2024 graduates, Ella Hann and her family. Ella received an A+ Merit for her work in Spiritualities, Religion, and Meaning in 2024, which is an outstanding result.
We are all extremely proud of Ella and her accomplishments and wish her all the best as she moves into life after school!

Chaplain's Corner

As a young person, visitors to our house would not bring me the greatest of joys. Why? As one of the older children I would be called in to serve them until they left. This meant that the important things that I was doing (usually nothing) instantly became far less important than the people who had visited. I was to either help cook a meal or prepare a hot drink, serve, entertain any young people that came, then clean up afterwards. Visitors were always to be given the highest hospitality that our family could afford. I admit that I would do my duty, but it was always a chore. Thankfully, times have changed.
I recently came across a beautiful quote about hospitality:
“Hospitality makes outsiders feel like insiders” Brant Hansen
Jesus regularly offered heaven’s hospitality to people who others judged unworthy. He sat with tax collectors and sinners (Luke 15), made time for the leper (Matthew 8), and fed the multitudes (Mark 6 & 8), just to name a few. One time He even invited Himself over to the house of one of the town’s most despised men (Luke 19). Hospitality like that takes a whole lot of love, and the Bible is clear that Jesus’ followers are to live with the same mindset (Matthew 25).
Hospitality is more than an action. It’s a heart posture. Hospitality sees the true value of an individual and offers them privileges that they may never earn or deserve. Hospitality builds community. So, Prescott College family, how can we be joyfully hospitable to one another?

School Improvement Survey - Have Your Say!
Have your say, with our school improvement survey which will be emailed to staff, students, and parents starting Monday, 19th May. We value your input and encourage you to take the time to complete it, as your feedback is essential to our ongoing progress.
The survey will close on Friday, 30th May.

How difficult will the survey be?
❖ The survey questions for the staff, student and parent surveys were designed in consultation with staff, students and parents and have been tested over many years in a significant number of Australian and International school systems. The vast majority of feedback indicates that the surveys are easy to understand and complete.
How long will it take?
❖ All surveys (staff, student, and parent) will take about 30 minutes to complete. However, time does vary, with some individuals taking less time and others taking more time.
What will be in the survey?
❖ The survey will ask you to rate your views about your school.
❖ The main aim of the survey is to find out how staff and student wellbeing can be improved in your school.
Is it important for everyone to complete the survey?
❖ To obtain an accurate picture of staff, student and parent views, it is important for as many of the selected
participants to take part as possible.
❖ Based on experiences across multiple school systems you should aim for at least 80% of staff, 90% of students and 50% of parents to complete the survey.
Who will have access to the survey information?
❖ The Adventist Schools Australia will have access to your school’s data to enable them to better support your
school.
❖ No information about your school will be provided to other schools. The information gathered for each school
is not allowed in the public domain (e.g., through media outlets, for use on the ‘my school’ website, or on the
school’s website).
Will my answers be confidential?
❖ All individual responses from staff, students and parents will be kept confidential and will not be identifiable to any other person or body outside of Insight SRC.
❖ The information provided by the survey consultants will be based on the views of all staff, students and parents
from your school that completed the survey.
❖There is no way that individuals can be identified from the results or the information provided by the survey consultants.
❖ The survey consultants are required to abide by the Australian Psychological Society’s Code of Conduct, and this is a contractual obligation for Insight SRC and Adventist Schools Australia – this ensures appropriate professional standards are in place to guarantee confidentiality.
Everyone will be issued with a login and password to complete the survey. More information will be provided at the beginning of Term 2.

Uniform Shop

Looking sharp in winter uniform!
It's really great to see students in full winter uniform. It's about the pride and discipline our students show. From the crisp blazers to the cozy scarves and shiny shoes, every detail adds up to a really sharp and professional appearance that makes our school shine. As a reminder, scarves can be an added accessory to the uniform, but they must be a smooth knit in black, royal/navy blue or white - no patterns.
When our students look this good, they're not just representing themselves; they're representing our school and everything we stand for. It shows they're ready to learn and be great ambassadors for excellence.
Thanks for all your support in helping our students embody respect, responsibility, and professionalism.
For all uniform requirements, please visit the uniform shop. It will be open on Wednesdays 12:30pm - 3:30pm until further notice. Students are able to visit during their lunch break and payment can be made over the phone.
