Leadership Insights

Unleash the Power of Being You

Two days of professional development for our Leadership Team have reinvigorated energy and enthusiasm for the phenomenal calling God has placed upon our lives. Aptly themed "Flourish," it was the primary focus of the ASA (Adventist Schools Australia)/NZPU (New Zealand Pacific Union) Leadership Conference, providing much-needed pausing and reflection conducive to strengthening our vision and mission as an Adventist school—being a Christ-centred learning environment where everyone flourishes.

There is something about being in a room with so many diverse individuals with a common goal of empowering teams and growing schools so they thrive in every aspect whollistically. It is riveting. The greatest realisation, yet again, that we belong to such a diverse teaching and learning community reminded me of how Alexander Den Heijer captured an essence of diversity when he stated that, “Getting to know a diverse group of people leads to a better understanding of yourself.” I definitely came away with a renewed sense of self and encouragement to keep serving this beautiful community we are proud to call ours.

Being uniquely diverse, the celebration of Multicultural Day is growing each year ever so strongly as we continue to embrace this strength. My deep hope is that our students will understand the power that comes from knowing one another and the impact of this on their understanding of self.

Today, we celebrate Multicultural Day, not just because it is marked on the calendar by the Australian government, but because our diversity is one of the key features that helps us to understand not just each other, but especially ourselves.

Thank you for being a part of our diverse community.  Thank you for leaning in and growing the partnership.  Thank you for getting to know others in a meaningful and purposeful way that ultimately leads to furthering your understanding of self.

Favourite Sport Team Colour Day

On Friday 16th May, our staff and students wore their favourite team’s colours to support the SRC charity of choice - UNICEF.

It was great to see our students be involved and supporting the charity by donating and purchasing food on the day.

Celebrating Diversity!

Today, we celebrated the wonderful mix of cultures in our school with a fun-filled day of laughter, music, movement, and mouth-watering treats! It was a joyful reminder of how our differences make us unique—and how much fun we have when we come together.

Chaplain's Corner

This week, we have been blessed due to the particular focus on culture. What a blessing it is to be a part of a school community that is so diverse in backgrounds, with many ties to different countries from all over the world! I love how culture can help define who we are individually.

This term our chapel theme is “Belong.” This fits in with our overall year theme of “Be.” As humans, we all want to belong to something or someone. I believe it is how God made us to be. So, who do you belong to? What culture do you belong to? What family do you belong to? What sport team, music fan group, hobby, are you a part of? Some things we never choose personally to belong to, yet we have many choices to make as to who we can belong to. Sometimes we are successful, sometimes we are not. I’m blessed to belong to a wonderful Hopkins family. I’m blessed to belong to the Prescott College Community - and though I have been away on a mission trip for two weeks of school, it has been a blessing to return and see everyone again. I am blessed to belong to Para Vista SDA church. I am blessed to belong to my Para Vista Pathfinder Club. But most of all, I am blessed to be a daughter of God. By knowing I belong to Him first, knowing He created and loves me beyond my understanding, is the best thing in this world; it is grounding, comforting, and it gives me so much hope for the future. So, as you celebrate your culture, your team sports, your church events or other hobby groups, I encourage you to know that your worth is even greater than the things of this world. When your identity is founded in Christ, you know He made you, you know He loves you, you know He died for you and therefore, you have great joy, peace and a full heart, knowing you belong to Him.

School Improvement Survey Is Now Live

Have Your Say!

A Survey Has Been Sent Out For Students, Parents and Staff To Complete! HAVE YOUR SAY.

We value your input and encourage you to take the time to complete it, as your feedback is essential to our ongoing progress.

The email was sent from James Tan; check your spam folder if need be. This email will contain your unique login ID and password to enable you to complete the survey.

The survey will close on Friday, 30th May. We appreciate you taking the time to do this survey at your earliest convenience.

How difficult will the survey be?

❖ The survey questions for the staff, student and parent surveys were designed in consultation with staff, students and parents and have been tested over many years in a significant number of Australian and International school systems. The vast majority of feedback indicates that the surveys are easy to understand and complete.

How long will it take?
❖ All surveys (staff, student, and parent) will take about 30 minutes to complete. However, time does vary, with some individuals taking less time and others taking more time.

What will be in the survey?
❖ The survey will ask you to rate your views about your school.

❖ The main aim of the survey is to find out how staff and student wellbeing can be improved in your school.

Is it important for everyone to complete the survey?
❖ To obtain an accurate picture of staff, student and parent views, it is important for as many of the selected
participants to take part as possible.

❖ Based on experiences across multiple school systems you should aim for at least 80% of staff, 90% of students and 50% of parents to complete the survey.

Who will have access to the survey information?
❖ The Adventist Schools Australia will have access to your school’s data to enable them to better support your
school.

❖ No information about your school will be provided to other schools. The information gathered for each school
is not allowed in the public domain (e.g., through media outlets, for use on the ‘my school’ website, or on the
school’s website).

Will my answers be confidential?
❖ All individual responses from staff, students and parents will be kept confidential and will not be identifiable to any other person or body outside of Insight SRC.

❖ The information provided by the survey consultants will be based on the views of all staff, students and parents
from your school that completed the survey.

❖There is no way that individuals can be identified from the results or the information provided by the survey consultants.

❖ The survey consultants are required to abide by the Australian Psychological Society’s Code of Conduct, and this is a contractual obligation for Insight SRC and Adventist Schools Australia – this ensures appropriate professional standards are in place to guarantee confidentiality.
